We Ought to Pray

July 24
Men always ought to pray and not lose heart.
Luke 18:1

"Expect great things from God, attempt great things for God."
William Carey

Boo thought: My husband was hired last fall to be the head of a new Christian school that people have been praying for in our area. The whole process has been a God thing full of answered prayers and we are down to crunch time with the board wanting this school to open August 20th. Luke 18:1 could be our daily theme! Prayer is what we all "ought" to do, but often we fidget around on our own first.

Last week the student numbers increased and the school needed to hire another teacher. Two experienced teachers who had been interviewed had already taken other jobs. As we prayed, I told the Lord it would really be awesome to have a guy on the staff. Not many elementary schools are blessed with male faculty members and our children need good male role models. That very afternoon the phone rang and it was a man named.....are you ready...."Guy" and he was inquiring about the job. He interviewed with my husband Monday. He has four years teaching experience, great references and a seminary masters!

We remembered we "ought" to pray and God answered those prayers.

Let's Pray: Father, we don't even need a cell phone to reach you. We don't even have to open our mouths for You know our minds and our words before we speak them. You are a relational God creating us for your pleasure and that pleasure includes talking to us and giving us good things/blessings. Help us to stay in Your Word, so that we know Your will and pray accordingly finding fulfillment and joy in who You have created, in advance, us to be. When we pray, help our unbelief and have us pray in a way that we expect results! In Jesus Name, Amen
