Hurry Up and Wait-God It

January 29

Graduation and award ceremonies are not one of my favorite
activities. With seven children we have gone to our share of
them. We have been very blessed by having children who
received special awards, which made the experience a bit more
enjoyable. This morning, somewhere in a dream, the Lord had on
my heart the parents who sit through those programs watching
other parents' children get the glory. I thought to myself...
they must be thinking...when will this be over.

Last night the anticipation of the very close Wake/Duke and
UNC/FSU games had me wishing in those last minutes they would
hurry up and be over. Today is our 100th day at Smith Mt Lake
Christian Academy. I've gone the whole year without catching
any of the numerous colds these children have had...now I have
one and wish it would hurry up and be over!

This economic crisis has us waiting and wishing it would hurry
up and be over! Those needing to sell homes or get a positive
response from a job interview are waiting Lord.
Proverbs 27:14 is powerful...Wait for the Lord; be strong and
take heart and wait for the Lord.

I was walking with John in Acts 12 this morning. Jesus had been
crucified and John's brother James was in prison. He was waiting
for him to be released....but instead they killed James.
Our waits don't always end with our wants. I reminded myself
this morning of this...God is God and that is good!

Someone emailed a change of address this morning and asked for
an acknowledgement. I wrote back "God it," instead of "got it."
God has "got it" ...the answer to all our prayers and He is with
us in the wait.

Be blessed by this writing from Beth Moore:Solitude is not so
much the place we find answers. It's the place we find our own
square foot of earth from which to grapple with heaven and decide
if we're going on-possibly alone-without our answers. And many of
us will. Why? Because the privilege of wrestling with such a holy
and mysterious God still beats the numbness-the pitiful mediocrity-
of an otherwise life. Sometimes we don't realize how real He is
until we've experienced the awesomeness of His answerless Presence.
He knows that what we crave far more than explanations is the
unshakable conviction that He is utterly, supremely God.

Amen...and if we aren't to the point of knowing God is God and that
is good...I pray we can hurry up and not wait to know GOD IT!
