Joy Robbers

February 11

Stash 'em, smash 'em, put 'em in the trash. Get those things which rob our joy out of our lives! Impossible! They are going to show up. Joy robbers come in the form of people, thoughts, mechanical break downs, and yes...even the weather! All of these elements will forever exist in our earthly lives. Ah, for the hope of heaven.

What is our mind set? Yesterday's arctic temperatures and blustery winds had many people in our area armed with fireplaces full of wood, candles and flashlights in anticipation of power outages. As for the seagulls, they were like elated surfers before a hurricane loving the enormous waves, as they dipped and sored through the erratic air currents. What appeared as potential demise for us, thrilled these birds.

How do we arm ourselves against the joy robbers? It goes back to our mind set.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Colossians 3:2

Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.
1 Peter 1:12-14

Prayer, praise music and a passionate purpose to stay in God's Word will allow you to pounce upon the joy robbers in your life!
