Distinguishing Voices

April 13
The home we lived in for twenty-five years was built in 1914. It was an enormous old house with a steam heating system that could have heated a motel! When that heat came on the rattling began and if you didn't know what it was you would have thought someone was breaking in. We returned home one night to find a baby sitter on the couch with three of the children huddled beside her and a tennis racket ready to swing.(We didn't have baseball bats at the time.) The pipes had given her a fright and the children were too little to explain.
Our minds are bombarded with various messages and learning to distinguish the sources comes through experience. The world screams one thing and the Lord offers up other options. Being alone, with our Bibles open is the best way to hear from God!

May the Old Hymn He Walks With Me encourage us to put some of that alone with Jesus time in each of our days! There is no sweeter fellowship.

I come to the garden alone,While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, Falling on my ear, The Son of God discloses.
Chorus:
And he walks with me And He talks with me, And He tells me I am his own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known.

Let's Pray: Lord, it's a bit hard to comprehend Your love for little ole us, but thank You for caring. Our days on earth are numbered and while some may think we should go for all the gusto here since we have eternity with You, help us to realize we will miss Your purpose for our lives here on earth if we fail to fellowship with You and hear Your instructions. Personally, I am struggling here in the world Father and need You to guide me. In Jesus' Name, Amen
