Promise

April 17-18
The word came in the middle of the night and stuck with me
until my eyelids opened:
Promise from the Latin pro- forth + mittere to send
Definitions:
1:a declaration that one will do or refrain from doing something specified;
a legally binding declaration that gives the person to whom it is made a right to expect or to claim the performance or forbearance of a specified act
2: reason to expect something; especially: ground for expectation of success, improvement, or excellence.

Going to Biblegateway.com there are 221 references to the word promise and sufficient reasons to expect God's promises to come to fruition!
From Abraham, Sarah, Moses, Noah,and David over and over again; all the way to Jesus promising the Holy Spirit, God's promises and their fulfilment are an uplifting place to hang out.
Now it is important to remember the promises didn't usually come with a quick fix...Sarah pregnant at 90????
And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.
Hebrews 6:15

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made.Psalm 145:13

That Kingdom will come!

While searching out promise on Merriam Webster I came across an interesting feature today. They had the top ten sayings which have come from the Bible. The number one was: Kiss of Death which came from Judas' betrayal of Christ.
