Taste and See that the Lord is Good

April 8
Maybe it was a hot flash which woke me up or the thoughts I am recalling are from a dream, but the message was to have a day only talking to the Lord. Confirmation came in several ways...one devotional book started today off with these passages of scripture:

Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.
Proverbs 16:3

Know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. 1 Chronicles 28:9

I am blessed with two daughters who love the Lord with all their hearts and have learned at young ages to hear His voice. Both shared this week lessons learned from Him. One spoke of how we find ourselves pouring ourselves into "projects" sometimes as a way of therapy to distract ourselves from a hurt or disappointment. She said she realized she had done that and God said to her...."Why don't you just pour yourself into Me?"

Another confirmation came as I am presently doing a Bible Study called: Close to His Majesty. O taste and see that the Lord is good. Psalm 34:8 David Needham writes, "Our greatest hindrance to this experience may be the pace at which we live....hardly a day-hardly an hour-goes by that if we paused to think through what was happening, we would discover something more about our God. For "in Him we live and move and have our being." He is always ours to taste and to discover. It is so easy to forget, that God saved us above all else for love for intimacy in relationship, for response. To fail to have time for this is to fail at living...One of the toughest things you and I confront is to get our thoughts off ourselves and the earth-oriented things that surround us long enough to "taste and see that the Lord is good."

In our minds we think that if the Lord is good, everything surrounding our lives will be good. Hmm, ask Moses, Noah, Job, Abraham, the disciples if they found this to be true. We live in the world and while chaos swirls around us there is a constant to cling to...His name is Jesus and he speaks truth, hope, love and of the good to come!
