Delegate

January 5 Delegate-to entrust to another; to appoint as one's representative.

In Exodus 18, Moses' father in law, Jethro, finds Moses working himself silly. His father in law speaks up and says, What you are doing is not good. You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you you cannot handle it alone. Listen to me know and I will give you some advice, and may God be with you. You must be the people's representatives before God and bring their disputes to him. Teach them the decrees and laws, and show them the way to live and the duties they are to perform. But select capable men from all the people-men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain-and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. Have them serve as judges for the people at all times, but have them bring every difficult case to you; the simple cases they can decide themselves. That will make your load lighter, because they will share it with you. If you do this and God so commands, you will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home satisfied.

The word and the passage were so clear this morning. I wondered, "Who is this for Lord?" A flash back of Sean Hannity's show last night, where some new members of congress were being interviewed, came to mind. Jethro's principle is an excellent chain of command for businesses and government. Let's take time to pray today for our leaders.

PT God, you are our high priest, the one in command. Like You, there is no other. While You are capable of handling it all, we on earth are not. Give us wisdom to put pride aside and share the load BEFORE it gets to heavy. Today we pray specifically for our national leaders. First of all place a hedge of protection around their souls and keep them from evil and pridefulness. Power can so quickly corrupt Lord as history has shown us over and over again. For those men and women who have been elected and know You may they stay strong in their prayer lives, seeking You moment by moment. Allow them be bold in their faith and make decisions based on Your ways, which hold such a high standard. May those who don't know You find reason this very day to believe. Lord, it is never too late to turn to You. Forgive us our trespasses and deliver us from evil. In Jesus' Name, Amen

Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established. Proverbs 16:3
