Cheaters Never Prosper

Celebrating basketball season.

February 26
Being a UNC athlete and graduate, basketball season is very important to my husband.  The fast pace of basketball and the way a team can go hot or cold on a dime makes me nervous.  I have to keep reminding myself, "This is not of eternal value."  Instant replay allows calls to be evaluated immediately, not always reversed, but evaluated.  Twice during the game we were watching there appeared to be fouls called that just were not so.  The opposing team took to the line for their foul shots and both times the players missed those shots.  I said, 'Well, God worked that out didn't he!"

Romans 12:17-19 lines up with those thoughts:
Never pay back evil for evil.  Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honest clear through.  Don't quarrel with anyone.  Be at peace with everyone, just as much as possible.  Dear friends, never avenge yourselves. Leave that to God for He has said that He will repay those who deserve it.

I've probably shared a quote from one of our sons.  He was playing in a tennis tournament and his opponent was making some very blatant "bad" calls.  Finally, our twelve year old walked up to the net and addressed his opponent by simply saying, "Cheaters never prosper."  That unnerved the other young man I don't think he won a single game after that and our son won the match.

God does have the whole world in his hands and those hands can handle any situation!
