Pioneer and Perfecter

May 23-24
Was there a product that was advertised as the never ending candy bar?  Maybe Sugar Daddies?  Do you remember how those things stuck in your teeth?  The Bible is the never ending source of goodness, wisdom and truth for me.  I hear people say they don't have time to read it, but I have a hard time putting it down.  The very same passage comes to light in new ways again and again.

Hebrews 12 put a sparkle in my day, as my eyes landed on where it described Jesus as the PIONEER and PERFECTER of faith.  For some reason that word pioneer had never sunk in.
The dictionary definition, which excited me, related to Jesus is: "A person who is the first to research or develop a new area of knowledge or activity." This second definition made me think of the disciples as the preparatory infantry group; and we are part of the main body of troops!  "A member of an infantry group preparing roads or terrain for the main body of troops."

March forward into new areas of knowledge and activity with Jesus this weekend!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.  And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.  Hebrews 12:1-2
