On the Bay

We had a delightful Thursday afternoon on the beach of the Chesapeake Bay

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for
someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
1 Peter 5:8-9

You know how you can study the same passage of scripture at different stages of your life and have something totally different evoked in your spirit?  A key element for not becoming self-focused in this stroke recovery was spending that week in the hospital rehab and working along side so many others who were struggling.  To have someone who has just lost their leg smile at you, as you're trying to balance on your two feet, and say, "That was great!" brings a lump to your throat and has me still praying for my recovery buddies. Being part of a prayer chain and receive daily updates on the needs of others is excellent for our spiritual walks and keeping life in perspective.

Reading this passage today and the phrase: "...the family of believers throughout the world undergoing the same kind of sufferings."  reminds me that few lives are struggle free.

Thursday morning I told my husband, I felt better than I'd felt since the stroke.  Then by 2:00 on the beach, I had a sinking spell and came back to the house and slept. We are praying for discernment as to whether the head issues are med related or maybe not resting enough.  Sometimes it's hard to know what these old bodies are up to. Today, I'm praying for God to be all sufficient for each person reading this and to meet all your needs beyond what you ever could have imagined!  Love you lots!
Let's welcome in November with praise and thanksgiving.
