To Be...Trained Up

Birthday party at The Chew Chew Town Restaurant.

A couple of our grandsons are major train enthusiasts!  A new train themed restaurant in their city, Charlottesville,  was the perfect spot for a birthday party last month.

In our confusing English language one word can have two entirely different meanings. Train can be a noun and a verb.  We can ride a train and we are to train and be trainable!

Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it."
Proverbs 22:6

Our faith walks are processes. We are never complete this side of heaven.  Daily we continue to be trained up!  As we await the moment we will be called up!

"Stick with what you learned and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers-why, you took the sacred Scriptures with your mother's milk!  There's nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of  Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another-showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way.  Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us."
2 Timothy 3:14-17

Read that again. It's so exciting!  Paul speaks to the vibrance of our faith and the igniting power of the Word to transform us and shape us throughout all stages of our lives.

Let's pray Psalm 86:11-12
"Train me, God, to walk straight; then I'll follow your true path.  Put me together, one heart and mind; then, undivided, I'll worship in joyful fear.  From the bottom of my heart I thank you, dear Lord; I've never kept secret what you're up to.  You've always been great toward me-what love!  You snatched me from the brink of disaster! In Jesus' name, Amen
