Where You Lead

Dang, I never know where the Lord is taking me.
Life with Him is like the TV show Survivor...a
new challenge or adventure every day. I am
beginning a study with my students on Randy
Alcorn's book Heaven for Kids (The adult version
is just called Heaven. I am feeling pulled to the
book of James as well, so just hold on with me
and we shall see where it all leads!

We are citizens of heaven, where the Lord
Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting
for him to return as our Savior. Phil. 3:20

Well that is a big AMEN right there. How about
coming back before this county falls apart? Uh, but
there are so many I love who are not ready to enter
into Your presence. Then I read how James begins
his book....James, a servant of God and of the Lord
Jesus Christ.
Studying the NIV Women of Faith Bible I read:
According to James, if we truly believe what
Jesus says, we will show it by living godly lives.
To merely say we have faith is insufficient. Living
in faith should pair adoration with action and
supplication with service. Such a faith will make
a difference to us and to others; how we live and
what we do really does matter to God.

Let's Pray: God, you are Almighty and You have a
grand plan....we want to know it, but realize in Your wisdom
You unfold what You think it best. Forgive us for all the
times we have not had servant attitudes. Spur us on
to make a lasting impact for Your kingdom. When we
see others who are lost fill us with compassion that acts.
Help us to believe James 1:2-4 where speaking through
James You tell us...Consider it pure joy, my brothers,
whenever you face trials of many kinds, because
you know that the testing of your faith develops
perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so
that you may be mature and complete, not lacking
anything. Living for You is exciting Lord, may our
daily actions reveal that to others! May there be a
smile upon our faces this very day that causes others
to think....what is he/she on? Ah, that would be a big
dose of Jesus and the hope of the Word!
In Jesus Name, Amen

Marriage Matters #1

One of life's deepest hurts is when the one you love is unfaithful. Forty years ago, I remember an older friend, whose wife had been unfaithful and left him for another man saying to me..."Boo, I hope you never experience having the person you love and are married to, living 8 blocks away loving someone else." Deep hurt. They divorced. The wife of another friend of ours was having an affair with a fellow church member and a neighbor of theirs who lived 5 blocks away. She moved in with this man and our friend said one evening he was walking by the house where they were living together and saw them sitting at a table having a candlelight dinner. Ugh. The torment. I've always said it would be aweful to find out the person you were married to and  loved deeply loved another.  Hmm. We are the bride of Christ.  Is He our first love? 2 Peter 2:14 says: They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed

Are You Sinking... Being Tossed About?

  A text came in from our neighbor recently, on a cold blustery day, when I was home with a stomach bug and awful headache. He said, "My canoe blew off our dock and has floated over to your shore."  And I'm thinking..."And you want me to do what?" I explained my husband was at work, but could help in the afternoon. I went to the window and could see the boat being tossed back and forth along our shore line. One minute it was close to our main dock and the next the winds had shifted and it was 200 feet in the opposite direction.  What I then realized is it had been taking on water. A text came again that he was in his car and driving around to our property.  Climbing out of my night shirt, I put on warm ups, UGGS boots and a hooded coat and limped outside to see how I could help. When I arrived to the shore line, the neighbor had tossed a 3 prong hook tied to a rope into the boat and was pulling it to the shore with one hand.  He had recently had hand surgery and
