You Don't Know What You've Got

October 29-31

Base your happiness on your hope in Christ.
When trials come endure them patiently; steadfastly maintain the habit of prayer.

Romans 12:12 (Phillips)

Enviously, we've heard stories or received emails about people who purchased or inherited something not being aware of the value of what they had. There is a song that went something like this..."You don't know what you've got till it's gone." Probably from a good ole country, break up song!
Two thoughts...
Once our love affair with Christ begins, He never leaves us. We may wander and have regrets over what could have been, but His love is steadfast and open armed.
The other is that because we are not capable of understanding the ways of God, we are clueless to all that is available to us when we've "got" Christ. Most of us don't even begin to tap into the peace, purpose and power which is available to us. While the Holy Spirit will never be gone from us, the opportunities we were created to perform through the power of the Spirit can slip away if we are not alert.

I am preparing to enter into a retreat weekend with some sisters in Christ. For two days the Lord has said over and over to me..."Have ears to hear!"

If we've got Jesus we've got an abundant life!

PS....I hate the word "got" but it works here!

Lord, You are our most precious possession and You can never be taken away. Even if someone steals our life, that brings us into Your actual presence which is a grand inheritance. Give us ears to hear You today and feet willing to march along Your way! Mold us, mentor us, mature us into the master pieces You had in mind from the beginning of our time. Thank You, thank You that we are precious in your site. We know what we've got. We've got it all when we've got Jesus. In His name we pray, Amen
