Don't Slow Down

Not much slows these three down!

"Such a large crowd of witnesses is all around us! So we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially the sin that just won’t let go. And we must be determined to run the race that is ahead of us. We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete. He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross, because he knew that later on he would be glad he did. Now he is seated at the right side of God’s throne!
                                                                                                                                         Romans 12:1-2

Life was full and good as an athlete enjoying competition, as a striving student wanting nothing less than an "A," as a young woman in love, which led to a young woman giving birth six times in eight years and thus parenting for the next twenty eight years.  Those were fast paced years of planning, anticipating, looking forward to the best for those I love.  There was little time to slow down.

I really like this stage of life, although it's not slow.  All our littles are big and most have littles of their own to raise now.  I'm now an older woman, still in love, and have an appreciation for each day my husband and I spend together.  The best part is the way my love for the Lord deepens each day and how a passage like Romans 12:1-2 makes total sense and reminds us we are of value at all ages and stages.

I processed the verse this way. Everyone is watching.
Sin continues to nip at our heels and must be daily confessed and turned over to Jesus,
who willingly took it to the cross for us.
We must be intentional to step out into the day believing God has a specific course for us to run.
We must keep our eyes on Jesus and seek His guidance, by faith, for the race ahead of us.
And in all things we give thanks and praise, rejoicing Jesus is seated by the right side of God's throne and we are getting closer each day to seeing Him face to face.

While we recognize we are physically slowing down, there is a spiritual race to be run
and there is work to be done in the name of Jesus that doesn't necessarily require physical strength. Don't slow down, rely on the Holy Spirit and go with God. Let him set the pace.
