The Center of the Circle

March 19

I am bouncing all over the place right now... the mother of all hot
flashes just had me unbuttoning my blouse and turning on the ceiling
fan, while my computer shutting down and going black had my blood
pressure in a panic. I have scurried home from school to take the
dog out and get picked up before a prayer group arrives and of course
get this devo out late today because I was a day behind reading emails
and chose that over the Lord's work this AM. Now Moses, is being
demanding wanting water, to go outside and for us to play his
favorite game, "Get the Bone".
Ha, ha...all these add right up to the Beth Moore quote in my journal.
Most of humanity's trouble stems from our naturally insatiable
self-centeredness.
(Guess that goes for our pets too.)
Life is a circle that goes around and around, but most often we are what is at the center of that circle.
Moore goes on to speak of how miserable self-absorption is and that the
practice of playing God is exhausting.
When we remember who Christ is, as written in Colossians 1:15-20 it makes
a lot more sense to have Him at the center of our lives than we ourselves.
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

There are many wonderful lessons to be learned in the waiting room of life
when we take our eyes off ourselves! For many of us we are facing a time
of testing like never before in our day to day walks.

Today at school we watched the movie March of the Penguins. The team work of these creatures is amazing. They huddled together to keep warm and take
turns going to the the center spot of warmth. The fathers work closely with the moms and actually will carry the egg of their newborn for a couple months while the mother and her girlfriends waddle off across 70 miles of Arctic ice for a time of respite and replenishing of nourishment. (I am so thankful I am not a penguin.)

The blessings come to us when we bind together as the body of Christ and
look to Jesus himself as the center of our being.

Let's Pray
God, you are our God and we will ever praise You. Forgive us for selfish motives that only bring us down. Place in us a willingness to wait upon You and your
perfect timing in our lives. Direct our paths and have us to walk (waddle if necessary) only in the ways which are pleasing to You. In Jesus Name, Amen
