To Be...Compassionate

God sent the blue heron to cheer me.

Paul's message in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 is so true!
"All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us."

For years I said everyone should waitress and work retail to appreciate those individuals.  You would tip better and hang up the clothes you try on! After working as a receptionist in a doctor's office, as a patient representative for hospice patients and as an elementary and middle school teacher, I know those jobs have made me a more understanding person. Giving birth six times, losing ones I've loved way too soon in tragic situations, passing a kidney stone, having a stroke and shingles, having major back issues and surgery, and now being stuck in  wheel chair with a broken ankle, all have purpose by elevating my levels of compassion for people facing those situations.

Someone told me recently that I have a big heart.  A heart that has hurt grows big and makes room to carry others in it.

Luke 6:36 finds Jesus saying,
" You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate."

Colossians 3:12
"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."

1 Peter 3:8
Finally, all of you, be liked minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble."
