It Makes Sense to be Abandoned....Say WHAT?

Lord, help me be a fast learner, because little ones are watching.
January 11

The text came from a friend that the Spirit had led her to share something with me which she'd read by Oswald Chambers.  It's my favorite revelation so far in 2019 and worth repeating.

"The greatest word of Jesus to His disciples is abandon. It means to be completely abandoned to the Spirit's guidance, with no thought to where He's leading or how to get there."

Well, that makes no sense to the way we live life does it, but oh how I want to live that way!!
Here's more.

"Jesus summed up commonsense carefulness in the life of the disciples as UNBELIEF.  If we have received the Spirit of God, He will squeeze right thru our lives, as if to ask 'Now where do I come into this relationship, vacation you have planned, or these new books you want to read?'"

Well, that was a show stopper. I'd just picked up three random books at the library and mailed a silly book called The Wonkey Donkey to our Minnesota grandchildren in hopes of bringing some laughter into their lives while their mom was in the hospital.
Chambers continues
"He (God) always presses the point until we learn to make Him our first consideration...do not worry about your life. Don't take the pressure of your provision upon yourself."

Say what?  Are you kidding me?

"It is not only wrong to worry, it is unbelief. Worry means we do not believe God can look after the practical details that worry us.  Have you ever noticed what Jesus said would choke the Word?...Is it the devil?  No!-'the cares of this world.' (Mt 13:22)  It is always our little worries.  We say, 'I will not trust what I cannot see.'-and that is when unbelief begins. The only cure for unbelief is obedience to the Spirit."

"..do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what  you will put on it."  Matthew 6:25

Oh, Lord!  There are so many lessons to learn.  Foremost is that You are number one in our lives.
Then there is the matter of surrendering to the Spirit.  Find us faithful today to turn our eyes upward, not into the mirror, not towards the world and what it is seeking from us, but to You and your ways. May our faith increase today and unbelief and worry be banished by the power of Your Spirit.  In Your Son's precious name we pray. Amen
