Purchased with a Purpose

This little visitor from our church came in a "cherry" bathing suit
and quickly found her way to a bowl of cherries in our kitchen!
***************
"What's the purpose?"  Have you said those words?

I'll have to say, I love it when the UPS man comes and brings a package.  Ninety percent of the time it's an item I've ordered with a specific purpose in mind. Most of the time the delivery includes something for the grandchildren with the purpose of spreading joy.

God has a purpose behind all his plans.
David knew the Lord to this depth and trusted Him.

"The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands."  Psalm 138:8

"The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble."
Proverbs 16:4

"Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand."
Proverbs 19:21

And Paul, from first hand experience, knew God was continually up to good using even evil men like himself who had been transformed with the purpose of having an enormous impact on God's kingdom.  Listen to some of his comments in Romans chapter 8.

"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us....And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.  For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Romans 8:18, 28-29

Father, we have our plans today, but we know Your plans and purposes are better.  Open our eyes to see where You are at work, ready our hearts for obedience and fill us with the courage to step out in boldness into the plans You have for us today. May all that we do bring glory to You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
