Day 8 Worship Through Holiness

"Consecrate yourselves and be holy, for I am the Lord your God."  Leviticus 20:7

Holy-"devoted to the service of God, morally and spiritually excellent."

"Learn to do what is good." Isaiah 1:17

So this was the show stopper, teach me Lord, moment in this lesson.
How do we know what is good?  There are lots of people who do good thing and aren't believers in Christ.

This verse in 1Peter recommends a starting point in the consecration process. A list of things to rid ourselves of.

"Therefore rid yourselves of all malice, all deceit, all hypocrisy, envy and all slander."
1 Peter 2:1
Check out these definitions.
Malice-intention to do evil.
Deceit-the intentional act of causing someone to believe something that is not true.
Hypocrisy-the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which ones behavior does not conform
Envy-a feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by else's possessions, quality or luck.
Slander-the action or crime of making a false spoken statement damaging to a person's reputation.

So, how do we do good.  First, remember our Helper, the Holy Spirit provides a way.
Romans 12:2 helped me.
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by
testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Whatever we are involved in, feeling called to, must pass the test of being acceptable to God.

Transformation is a process that requires intentionally coming to God with a repentant heart, surrendering to the Holy Spirit's ability to spruce us up, and realizing Jesus is with us.

Maria Furlough wrote today for She Reads Truth...

Sweet child, you worship me through holiness by coming to me over and over again and allowing Me to make you clean.” This is why Jesus came: to make us holy and bring us back into right relationship with God. He has chosen us to be His own and calls us holy now, today. Out of His great mercy, He called us out of the darkness of sin and into freedom in Him (1 Peter 2:9–10).
