Be Glad

These three have been glad to quarantine at Shiloh where there is plenty of room to safely roam without running into others.

Biblegateway.com  is a daily tool I use for scripture reading, research or audio listening. I haven't put a lot of thought into who is behind the app making the selections for the "Verse of the Day" until this pandemic. The past few weeks there has been intentionality to select verses of encouragement we can cling to during this time.

Let your hope make you glad. Be patient in time of trouble and never stop praying.
Romans 12:12

Don't worry about anything, but pray about everything.

With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.                                          Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that                          no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel."
Philippians 4:6-7

These are desperate times. A prayer group I am in was praying for one woman's son to not be laid off; for a pastor's son who needs serious surgery to be permitted to go to  Johns Hopkins, which was not taking out of state patients; for a friend whose dairy farmer father desperately needed a new milk distributor so he wouldn't have to dump 3,000 gallons of milk. All those prayers were answered!  Two weeks ago, our son fell from a ladder on a job site and is awaiting surgery on his foot.  Another friend fell getting off a boat and had to have her forehead stitched up and spend one night in the hospital.  When anxiousness began to creep into my soul, I remembered Philippians 4 and the way to peace.  In these last two situations I chose to be thankful for the protection that surrounded these two and that both of them had people with them at the times of their accidents.  Peace did come over me and the way I was thinking.

A She Reads Truth author recently wrote: "What Jesus promises us goes beyond mere tranquility.  The rest Jesus offers isn't a retreat, but a new way of living, drawn from an Old Testament concept called shalom. Shalom is more than rest; it is peace, wholeness, blessing and connection to the Lord.  This is only possible when we learn to rely on God rather than our own efforts, to cast our worries onto His back rather than piling them up on our own. This is the rest Jesus calls us to.  And when we accept His invitation, we find His peace that surpasses all understanding. Philippians 4:7

Jesus tells his followers that His "yoke is easy and His burden is light." Matthew 11:30

Taking His "yoke" means choosing a lifestyle that reflects Christ like living and obedience to His teachings.  It means being glad simply because you are a child of the King."

"Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."  John 14:27
