Haven't Seen it Yet

The lights at Shiloh

Waiting for things to be seen.

Ugh, the trigger!  This takes me back to a childhood "wait" I've probably shared about before. It was for my mother to show up. By the time I was in middle school my mother's drinking problem was severe.  In great wisdom, rarely was she the driver of others in a car and she probably had no business ever behind the wheel.  My grandmama never got her driver's license, but had a wonderful man named Willie to drive her and often me as well.  He died when I was in the 6th grade, which left my mother to occasionally drive pick up from after school practices. On those days she was never on time and in the wait I would always wonder if she was going to come.

We can be sure our heavenly Father is always on time and for those who know Jesus we know He is going to come for us and take us home.

What are some of the daily things you find yourself waiting for?  For us all it's the longing for "the germ", any talk of it and its awful repercussions to be over.

When we peer at our calendars maybe it's a long awaited vacation or a celebration.  When we peer at life the longing are larger in magnitude.  Is there something you find yourself saying, "I haven't seen it yet?" The completion of a degree, a wedding, a home, a pregnancy, a healing, a move or even an entrance into heaven.

Do you ever wonder what God is waiting for?  What is it that He hasn't seen yet in the lives of his creations?

Certainly, God is waiting for us open His gift. To accept His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, as our Savior and to trust Him, love Him and pattern ourselves after Him and get on with the good works God has prepared for us to walk in.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10

Maybe this very day He is waiting for us to:

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. Proverbs 31:8-9

Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. Isaiah 1:17

To act justly and to love mercy  and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.  Matthew 6:33-34

There are some parents waiting for their children to obey and clean up their rooms.  Our heavenly Father is waiting for each of us, in some way as his disciples, to be fulling these commands:

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.  1 Peter 4:10-11

Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus. Hebrews 3:1

Lord, you are full of patience, love and grace. Forgive us for making You wait! May we be found faithful today in obedience to your commands and live out this day in a way that causes You to say "Hallelujah! That's what I want to see!" In Jesus' name, Amen
