My First Love
Our First Love
As we continue doing life in “heart month” let’s do a little heart check.
Do we seek God first?
But seek first the kingdom or God and his righteousness. Matthew 6:33
When our eyes open in the morning are our first thoughts on God, even thanking him for seeing us through the night?
When there is reason for jubilation do we share the exciting news with God or pick up the phone and text another.
When we have been tested to the max and are so frustrated by another to whom do we take our grumbling? To the One who can change the grumbler’s heart or to an earthly listening ear.
When panic, fear or anxiety set in, where do we go?
Do we talk about Jesus constantly and share His Word?
Whoever speaks is to do so as one who is speaking actual words of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11
When we are in love we tend to talk about that person to others. What is the last amazing thing you have shared with someone about Jesus?
Today, pass along a bit of wisdom from God’s Word to someone else for these are the words that matter.
Have we fallen out of love with God and positioned that passion on someone or something else?
You have forsaken the love you had at first. Revelation 2:4
Sitting with a group of friends recently we challenged one another to consider what we may be making idols in our lives. All being grandmothers we admitted it is very easy to put those grandchildren before everything else! One woman honestly confessed that she had to be conscious not to make her dog an idol, for she gains so much comfort and companionship from her dog. A spouse can easily take that position of “first” in our lives.
