One Liners Make You Think

Hundreds of children showed up to hunt 6,000 Easter eggs at our main church campus in Rocky Mt, VA. My husband enjoyed showing off our Minnesota family!

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

The past couple weeks BSF has been digging into the tough call the Prophet Jeremiah had on his life.  He is known as the "weeping prophet" for he was the bearer of tough consequences to come upon his people for their horrific sins. Whew. No one wants to be the bearer of  bad news, but that is what God called Jeremiah to do. Here are some one liners from that study that make us stop and think.

"God does not promise to spare His children from trouble, but He faithfully upholds those who put their trust in Him."

"Sharing God’s heart means caring more about the spiritual peril of others than personal ease."

"God calls his children to share His burdens, speak His message, and trust Him with the results."

"Even as we suffer, God stokes the fire of our faith by providing what we need most."

"The Holy Spirit changes a believer’s appetite so that pleasing Him matters more than what we desire."

In the end Jeremiah is called to speak hope and of a future restoration for these people.

For his entire ministry he is pleading with his people to turn back to the Lord.

No matter what we face or what God calls us to share Philippians 4:8 reminds us where our thoughts should remain.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
