Strife and Discord

This turtle went through some strife being captured by our family, but he has been enjoying a private pool and dining on fresh raspberries and other turtle delicacies he would not have found in the wild.

August 24th there was an article on the IFA site related to the name of the newest COVID strand. Gloria Roberts wrote...

"When I saw the new strain of COVID trending, something caught my eye. The name is “Eris.” Most Christians understand that names can have prophetic meanings. Eris is the Greek goddess of strife, and her Roman equivalent is Discordia. She stands for chaos, contention, rivalry, and war. Thus, her name means strife and discord.

Discord and strife are a one-two punch that works together. Discord is simply a lack of agreement or harmony. It happens when someone intentionally stirs up trouble to divide, either by words or actions. The sole purpose is to sow distrust. Once the seeds have been sown, since there is no longer agreement, suspicion, arguments, and fights soon follow. Strife is defined as conflict, quarreling, disagreements, and opposition. These things are often unavoidable, especially since sincere believers have different opinions on matters like our faith, politics, and everything in between. We should be able to handle our differences with wisdom."

This was such a good reminder to me to approach others in love at all times.

The article reminds us to look to God's Word at when confronted with all topics and pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit and keep the peace.

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God (Galatians 5:19–21).

Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses (Proverbs 10:12 AMP).

Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling (Proverbs 20:3 NLT).

A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger and patient calms disputes (Proverbs 15:18 AMP).

For lack of wood, the fire goes out, and where there is no whisperer [who gossips], contention quiets down (Proverbs 26:20 AMPC).

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers (Proverbs 6:6–19).

So, whether we don masks again or not; or get tested when we are not feeling well or ride it out, we will be respectful of others...in Jesus name and pray at all times.

Back in July Jesus Calling posted this..."My children make a pastime of judging one another- and themselves. Bu tI am the only capable Judge, and I have acquitted you through My own blood. Your acquittal came at the price of My unparalleled sacrifice. That is why I am highly offended when I hear My children judge one another or indulge in self-hatred."

Don't condemn others, and God won't condemn you. Matthew 7:1

And the world will be a nicer place!
