Just a Crack
Sitting on our screened porch I noticed the door cracked open at the bottom and this started the thought process of how easily sin can creep in.
The sound of the birds in the trees prompted me to research the migration of mourning doves, I mentioned earlier. An article on why birds fly into our windows appeared stating the main reason is the reflection of foliage on the glass. The article gave numerous recommendations to cut down on this problem.
We live on a lake and have 69 windows or sliding doors, so you can imagine my thought process as I read these suggestions.
Are you ready for this...
Use tempera paint or soap and make a grid pattern on your windows.
Put decals, stickers, sun catchers, or masking tape on your windows. Hawk silhouettes are particularly helpful.
Purchase long lasting tape products like large "dots" and space those along your windows.
Purchase "zen" curtains, which are closely spaced ropes to hang down over your windows.
Place screens or netting over your windows help.
Purchase one way transparent film that make your windows look opaque.
WOW. If people are willing to go to all these measures to protect birds what are they willing to do to protect their own lives from the threat of temptation that leads to sin.
And lead is not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Matthew 6:13
In a recent sermon our pastor listed "Practices for us to resist temptation."
Ready yourself ahead of time-expect temptation
Run for your life -like Joseph did.
Don't rationalize temptation- In Hebrews 11 Moses acknowledges fleeting pleasure
Remain sober - 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful.
2 Timothy 1:7 Not a spirit of fear
Rely upon God- 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has over taken you...God will provide a way if escape.
Emergency Response-
Picture Jesus on the Cross Job 31:1 Made a covenant with my eyes
Quote scripture- Psalm 119:11 Hidden God's Word in my heart
Ask yourself will this please God? Daniel 1:8 He purposed in his heart...
