Fill Your Joy Jar
Each of their stories has an element of heartache, but they choose joy!
Whether they came over using walkers, wheelchairs, or canes or having just buried their spouse, they came over with smiles on their faces. We celebrated the 90th birthday of one of our founders.
Recently, I was in the car with someone giving me the cold shoulder. I had absolutely no idea what I had done, but it was a downer!
On Day 46 Lysa Terkeurst wrote on how easily we can become negative. She writes from a heart that is broken from the abandonment of her biological Father and unfaithfulness and addictions of her ex-husband. When we are negative it is difficult for God's Word to implant itself in our souls. You know how much easier it is to dig in moist soil than dry hard soil.
Hmm, let's think of God's Word as a moisturizer.
Lysa says, "The happiest people aren't the ones whose lives are perfect. The happiest people are the ones who are most capable of keeping imperfections in perspective. Imperfections help others uncross their arms, relax, and giggle. We can easily focus on something that didn't go 'right' and let that ruin a moment, or we can laugh it off and say to ourselves, 'This will be a great story one day.'
Simply, if you bring the happy, your life will be beautiful. Not perfect, but beautiful.
Embrace the unexpected. Smile at the crazy. Laugh at the unplanned. And relax."
I"m making two little jars for this summer. A joy jar full of brightly colored jelly beans and a jerk jar with dark colors beans or may be thorns that bring me down. The sign beside the jars will read...Choose Joy!
