The Praying Harpist- Rooted and Grounded in Love

Image
Join our daughter, BettyAshton Mayo, The Praying Harpist, as she shares from God's Word and calls you to be still and listen to the Lord. In this episode she is sharing from Ephesians Chapter 3:15-21 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith-that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. She reminds us to "re...

Miracle Worker

Image
Our one year old granddaughter considering a medical career. Well, I'm ready for this flu season to fly away.  Everyday I've been calling on our Great Physician to bring healing to someone. You, Lord, are the one I praise.  So heal me and rescue me!  Then I will be completely well.  Jeremiah 17:14   Jesus wants healing to happen and as believers who have come after him he fills us with the Holy Spirit and the power to pray for that healing to happen. And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction. Matthew 10:1 God is a miracle worker.  For you are great and do great miracles. You alone are God.  Psalm 86:10 Take time to thank God for who he is and for the example of miracles in his Word and the ones in our lives as well.   The Song "Miracle Worker" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=928EkA8K398

Pray for Respect

Image
This sweet, respectful, one year old is cleaning the kitchen cabinets. Here is an email I sent out to fellow mamas and grandmamas. Sweet Mamas/Grandmamas, While vacuuming and listening to praise music the Lord brought a precious young mother to mind, so I texted her asking how I could pray. She said a child of hers is struggling with the issue of respect. I told her I’d dig into some scripture to pray for this situation and I came across this biblically based link from Focus on the Family related to training up our children (and us) to be respectful. It is full of great ideas and activities, so I thought I’d share with you all. I’ve copied a sampling in case you don’t have time to click the link and read all 14 pages right now. You might want to print them off and keep them in the car to read when you are waiting for your children in a pick up line!   In carrying out some of these ideas I’d approach it as a family project as no matter our age we have respect issues.😉 We cushion th...

"Cue the Confetti"

Image
Needing a chocolate fix I picked up a Dove chocolate square. It was late in life that I learned there is a quote on the inside of these foil wrappers. Mine left me momentarily dumbfounded. "Cue the confetti."  I'd never heard that said, so I Google for an explanation and all of the ones I found appeared to be guesses. One said it means "Bring on the connections." One- "Spread kindness all around." Another said, "You then the action."  That left me more puzzled. So, I made up my definition.  "Get ready to celebrate." As often happens with my thoughts, one thing leads to another and I thought how often we read God's Word and think...."What does that mean?" First of all I find great comfort in Isaiah 55:8-9 The Lord says:"My thoughts and my ways are not like yours.  Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, my thoughts and my ways are higher than yours." Praise God he is WAY higher in knowledge and abilit...

Let God Lead

Image
While reading Luke 9:23-26 in The Message translation where  Jesus is speaking to the disciples and says,  Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead . You're not in the drivers seat-I am. Don't run from suffering; embrace it.  Follow me and I'll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself,  your true self.  What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? If any of you is embarrassed with me and the way I'm leading you, know that the Son of Man will be far more embarrassed with you when he arrives in all his splendor in company with the Father and the holy angels. I was taken back to s ixteen years ago when Steven Curtis Chapman wrote the hit song "The Great Adventure." "Saddle up your horses, we've got a trail to blaze through the wild blue yonder of God's amazing grace....let's follow our leader into the glorious unknown...life like no other, this ...
