God's Heart and Pursuit

Looking ahead to summertime, but no infants this summer. Everyone will be running about.

A recently widowed young woman who attends our church shared that her teenage daughter, who first clung to God when this tragedy happened, is now angry with God for taking her father.

I heard a college student, who didn't receive a position he had applied for say, "Why wouldn't God give me that. I'm so much better equipped than the guy they selected."

You hear people say, "I'll do anything God wants if he will just give me..."

Isaiah 30:18 says : The Lord longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.

God loves us!  God pursues us?  God forgives us time and time again. The kicker is God has plans for us and we are so centered on "me, me, me" that's all we can "see, see, see." Then a battle, initiated by our "self wants," sets in causing us to forget how our heavenly Father loves us and longs to be gracious to us.

When we look back at so many of the greats in the Old Testament like Abraham, Noah, David, Moses and the nation of Israel we see a boomerang process. They love the Lord, they hear the Lord, they serve the Lord, but then they go off on their own way for awhile before boomeranging back to Him.

God's heart breaks when we turn and go our own way, but his compassions never fail and his pursuit for us continues.

Want to see God's heart for you?  Look at the cross and remember...Romans 5:6-8

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.  For one will scarcely die for a righteous person-though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die-but God shows his love for us in that while were were sinners, Christ died for us.
