A New Thing

How's your New Year going? Hanging out with these little fellows is my happy place.
January 6
God is the God of new beginnings. Can I get an "Amen"?  His mercies are new every morning!
He created the seasons and the calendar year, exhibiting fresh starts.

Yesterday, I saw my hematologist and asked the same ole question.  Can I come off Plavix?  "Why do you keep asking me that?" he said.  The explanation was simply that I don't like taking medication.  His reply, "I don't like strokes!"  He's a funny fellow. He admitted he too was an anti-meds guy, but he said, "If I'd had a stroke I'd be sniffing that Plavix bottle while waiting until I could take the next one."  Checking my body brought on another upbeat articulation, "Look at all the bruising!" he cheerfully exclaimed, "Plavix is working great!"

Less frequent doctor's appointments (I'm free for 6 months from this specialist) will be a blessing.  The best "new thing" for me will be an attitude of gratitude for medications that can help people live a more productive life.  While I'd love to know the cause of the stroke, it's better to know the One who has numbered my days and holds me in the palm of His hand and has purpose for my life however long it is.

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?"
