Miracles

Missing our dear Fiona and Admin, who live in Romania, and we are praying
 for some miracles and rejoicing over other miracles they have already seen.

True confession...I have a cold and grief brain, which can wear you down, so I may wander in my writing. I've often said, grief is a monster that rears its ugly head at unexpected times. And that's an okay process, especially if we allow it to bring us closer to Jesus.  

Grant those who grieve the dignity to ask questions.

Bestow upon the bewildered permission to not edit their honesty.

Voice texting with my friend, Fiona. Thursday morning from Romania, she asked us to pray that they would see miracles!  When was the last time you had a friend ask boldly for that request? I love the depth of this young woman's faith! Our conversation set me to chatting with Jesus about miracles.

Why did Jesus do miracles?

What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee (the water into wine thing) was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him. John 2:11

The scriptures reveal that early on miracles were tools to reveal his glory and increase the belief of the disciples.  I think also the many healing miracles came out of His love for others.

Why did Jesus wait to go to his beloved Lazarus when he heard he was sick? He could have just spoken a healing upon him from afar.


The Lord says:“My thoughts and my ways are not like yours. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, my thoughts and my ways are higher than yours. Isaiah 55:8-9


Ah, yes, Lord, it's not about us.  It's about You and Your glory.  Waiting demonstrated that Jesus has power over death and the grave.  A good precursor to his death, burial and resurrection.  And  that miracle certainly drew more people to Christ! 


We, like Mary and Martha, don't want to wait for our miracles.  We often despair, maybe even doubt, if God delays.  "Oh, that we would trust Him more" and remember we have no comprehension of the plans that God is up to.


I like what Chole writes about miracles,  "It seems to me that miracles are less of a promise for tomorrow and more of a manifestation of God’s love and power for today. Today, God provides bread. Today, God calms the storm. Tomorrow’s needs and storms cannot void the reality of today’s miracles any more than today’s miracles can void the potential of tomorrow’s needs and storms."


We will all die some day. Lazarus eventually did.  For those in Christ Jesus it will be a glorious homegoing.  An eternal heavenly home in the presence of the Trinity is the ultimate miracle! There will be some praising going on.


He is the one you praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.  Deuteronomy 10:21


Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21


It's all about Jesus!
