Sometimes We Don't Know What to Say

Do you feel as if problems abound right now?  If you check your emails and texts more than likely someone you know is overwhelmed by problems related to grief, marriage, relationships, finances, health, job issues, addictions, heartaches, loss or loneliness, or world events.

Years ago, listening to someone who had huge life issues surrounding her, my only response was "Life is a lot!"  Our family uses that line often when we don't know what to say.

We can say, "I am so sorry you are struggling. I don't know what to say, but the God of all comfort has these words for you, which I hope bring you comfort as you lay your burdens down at his feet."

Come near to God and he will come near to you.  James 4:8

We are more than conquerors through him who loves us. Romans 8:37

You keep the mind that is dependent on You in perfect peace, for it is trusting in You.  Isaiah 26:3

Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness-without it no one will see the Lord.  Hebrews 12:14

Lord be gracious to us!  We wait for You.  Be our strength every morning and our salvation in the time of trouble.  Isaiah 33:2

Don't worry about anything, but in everything through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:4-7

Right now there are so many distraught Ukrainians being ministered to. How can anyone know what to say? "Come near to God and he will come near to you," is a good starting point.
