The Noticer

It brings such joy being with a 1 year old who notices everything!

The Noticer by Andy Andrews

This book popped up as an audio selection on my phone and it was worth the listen!  It is based on the true story of when the author and narrator, was a homeless 23 year old living under a pier on Alabama's Gulf Coast.

A review from Good Reads read. "The Noticer beautifully blends fiction, allegory, and inspiration. It provides simple, yet powerful distinctions about love, relationships, value, and integrity and will inspire readers to take that first step toward a major life change.

Communicating what he calls 'a little perspective,' Jones (the main character) explains that he has been given a gift of noticing things about life that others miss. In his simple interactions, he speaks to that part in everyone that is yearning to understand why things happen and what they can do about it."

Jesus notices everything about us and loves us anyway! Bask in Psalm 139:1-16

O Lord, you have searched me and known me!  You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.  You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.  Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.  You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.

Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I feel from your presence?  If I ascend to the heaven, you are there!  If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!  If I take the wings of morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.  If I say, 'Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night," even the darkness is  not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.  I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.  Wonderful are your works; my souls knows it very well.  My frame is not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.  Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

May we be led by the Holy Spirit to notice the lives of the people and places God desires to use us, for when we are walking and working for Him we find joy.

Paige Brown in her recent teaching on 1 Samuel tapped into the false teaching in our society of the importance of loving ourselves. She shared how that philosophy is not in the Bible.  She said,

"We don’t have to love ourselves for we are perfectly loved by God." God's love fills us up to overflowing and the reality that we are "Fully Known."
