Wait til the Pollen Falls

The March temperatures have been in the 70's and it's oh so tempting to pull out the patio furniture and beach toys, put up the dock umbrellas, buy plants and ferns and stock the boat house! Sensing my temptations, in a kind voice my husband said, "It might be wise to wait until the pollen falls." One acronym for wait is "Why Am I Tempted?

Oh, how we can get ahead of ourselves in the wait.

We have had to do some unwanted waiting these past couple years due to "the germ" and government restrictions.  We have dear friends who have just embarked on a trip abroad.  They were required to have "germ" testing done within a specified number of hours before their flight.  The husband's results came back negative and they patiently waited for the wife's results, while taking the first leg of their trip to Atlanta.  Calling the testing site to see what the hold up was they were told the test had been faulty and would have to be retaken.  Hurriedly and expensively they found a testing site in Atlanta that would give results within a couple hours and allowed them to get their boarding passes and take off.

Whew, our waits can be frustrating.

Then there is the weight of the wait for medical tests results. The scans, the blood work, the biopsies.

Our waits can be stressful and scary.

This time of year I have great compassion for high school seniors waiting to hear college decisions.

Our waits are most often out of our hands.

One cherished friend is awaiting medical test results. I sent her this scriptural prayer from                 Ephesians 3:16-19

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your heart as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.  In Jesus' name, Amen

Whatever you are waiting for remember you are not alone in your wait.  My alarm sounded at 1:20 as a reminder to pray for a friend undergoing a couple biopsies.  Just as it sounded I was reading this quote..."Is any pleasure on earth as great as a circle of Christian friends by a good fire?"  C. S. Lewis

Whether in the fire or by the fire A friend loves at all times. Proverbs 17:17

I thank God for each of you and know if I ever need prayer there is no need to wait, for I can call on you.
