Doorways

June 4-5
God has taught me two great lessons on "doors" this week. At one point during the week someone walked in a door and saw me in the room and immediately closed the door and left. It was obvious they had no desire to talk to me. Later that same day I went to visit my father and he had purposely left his door open awaiting my arrival. God whispered.... "Like your earthly Father's door, My door is always open to you." It was one of those major "God moments that thrills your heart."
So Jesus said again, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that I Myself am the Door for the sheep." John 10:7

The second lesson came today and it was on "shutting the door." Matthew 6:6 says: But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."

Bob Sorge says in his eye opening book Secrets of the Secret Place: "When Jesus taught on prayer, He gave primary emphasis to the secret place. In fact, the first thing He taught concerning prayer was the primacy of the secret place. In the verses following, He would teach us how to pray, but first he teaches where to pray....Our Father is in the secret place!"

Sorge's book is up there in my top ten favorites. As I finish up Bless and Be Blessed this weekend, I will journey into this 52 week long study of sneaking off to a secret place with God.
Order the book for yourself and follow along! Watch each week for highlights from this book on "Keys to Igniting Your Personal Time with God"...be sure to have The Book with you during these special secret times.

Off to my prayer closet...which is actually a screened porch this time of year!
