Doom da Doom Doom
The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
1 John 3:8
If someone asked you today why you celebrate Christmas, how would you reply?
Have you ever heard the above verse read at a Christmas dinner?
Lord, make us bold enough to go beyond the "It's how God demonstrates his love for us."
That's fine as long as we add…"being that we are sinners and we need a savior to be reconciled to God, so Christ came to die for our sins." Personally, I think 1 John 3:8 will be my new response!
What a thought provoking statement!
Here's a December 10th tidbit from John Piper's book The Dawning of Indestructible Joy.
"Thus says the Lord: the meaning of Christmas is that what
is good and precious in your life need never be lost, and what is
evil and undesirable in your life can be changed. The fears that
the few good things that make you happy are slipping through
your fingers, and the frustrations that the bad things you hate
about yourself or your situation can’t be changed—these fears
and these frustrations are what Christmas came to destroy."
