Train Up a Disciple

April 27
Our grandson LOVES trains, so I painted this engine and coal car as a birthday party prop. It doubles as a photo shoot opportunity and bean bag toss!  Multiple times over the years I've referred to the verse…Train up a child in the way he should go…but presently I'm delving into "Letters to Timothy" with the She Reads Truth ministry and absorbing the training Paul executed to Timothy.

The first memory verse in this study is 1 Timothy 6:12.

Fight the good fight for the faith;
take hold of eternal life that you were called to and have made a good confession about
in the presence of many witnesses.

I particularly like Paul's honesty in chapter one verses 12-17.  When we feel unworthy of a task God has called us to we can remember Paul's transformation.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service  Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of or Lord was poured out on my abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst.  But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.  Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen
