Assistance is Needed

It was so much fun watching Samson, our grand dog, help decorate the family tree.

December 13
Assistance- the provision of money, resources or information to help someone; the action of helping someone with a job or task.

The word was stuck in my head as I tried to go to sleep last night.  Heading to Biblegateway I thought for sure I'd find some references to assistance.  I had to head to The Message and found:

"Sign some widows up for the special ministry of offering assistance.  They will in turn receive support from the church. They must be over sixty, married only once, and have a reputation for helping out with children, strangers, tired Christians, the hurt and troubled.  1 Timothy 5:9-10.

Paul has given some specific instructions concerning widows in this chapter titled "The Family of Faith."  What a fabulous reputation to have...one where we are known for helping children, strangers, tired Christians, the hurt and troubled.  Ask God to place one person in each category, as well as a widow, on your heart to offer assistance to this Christmas season.

Off to find a stranger in need of assistance!
