Here's Your Sign

December 23
We've had the blessing of celebrating Christmas in Florida at the home of one of our sons. These happy flamingos greeted us when we arrived.  Not quite the cattle lowing, a donkey nodding or bleeps of sheep, but they were a sign of welcoming and joy.

Long ago the prediction of a sign was made:

"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign:
The virgin will be conceived and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel."
Isaiah 7:14

"The Lord will give you a sign," just jumped off the page at me.  How many times have I said, "Just give me a sign Lord.  Please, have a letter in the mailbox telling me what to do.  Show me which way to go!"

None of these earthly decisions I've stewed over matter at all compared to the decision I made in 1973 to ask Jesus into my heart.  The time when I grasped that God came to earth, as Jesus, to die for my sins.  It makes the celebration of Christmas hold such a deeper meaning than presents under the tree.
