To Be...Worshipful Day 5

Night time snuggles on the dock!
August 5
Day 5 Why don’t some people worship?
Worship
Bow or kneel today and worship the Lord with a humble and contrite heart.
"Come let us worship and bow down."  Psalm 95:6

Kneel
Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; Sing the glory of His name; Make His praise glorious.“
Psalm 66:1-2

“Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth, Sing praises to the Lord.” Psalm 68:32

Nibble
“Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; Sing praises to our God on the lyre, Who covers the heavens with clouds, Who provides rain for the earth, Who makes grass to grow on the mountains.”
Psalm 147:7-8

Nourish
“Why do people not worship the Lamb? It is because they have never had a true vision of the Lamb or a true concept of God, for to know Him is to worship Him.”  Joseph Carroll

“Love can only be cultivated adequately in aloneness with the one you love.”  Hudson Taylor

King David knew this so well.  David, a king, a man’s man, a warrior said the one thing he wanted was to behold the beauty and pleasantness of the Lord.  Intimate fellowship with God was of utmost importance.  David said, “This I will seek after, “ because he knew very well this would not come easily.

The “to do’s” of the day so easily get in the way.  The story of Mary and Martha exhibited this problem. Mary was willing to sit at Jesus’s feet and just worship Him.  Martha was at work for Him and she wanted everyone else working with her.

Is our quiet time for us, for intercession for others or for God.
We are certainly commanded to pray, to pray without ceasing, but we are also called to worship the Lord our God.
When we are plugged in to worship the intent and content of our hearts will be all about God.
We are a sinful, self-centered people by nature, so we have to choose worship mode.

“Worship involves taking our eyes off ourselves- our hurts, disappointments, and sorrows-and putting our thoughts on God.”  Kathleen Chapman.

If people have never tasted and experienced the benefits of worship they don’t know what they are missing.
Here are some benefits.
He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord!” Isaiah 26:3 TLB

Throughout the entire ceremony everyone worshiped the Lord as the singers sang and the trumpets blew.”
2 Chronicles 29:28(TLB)

Share with someone how this week of disciplined worship has enhanced your relationship with the Lord?

Has this prompted you to see God throughout the day?

Knock
God, You are my God and I am in awe of You.  You take a tiny seed and grow a mighty oak.  You have placed within each of us a craving for Your love.  May those who have never knocked, who have never cried out desiring to know You, do that today. May there be rejoicing in heaven today for someone who was lost and has now been found.  May today be the day, many fall down at Your feet in worship.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 96

“Sing a new song to the Lord! Let the whole earth sing to the Lord!
Sing to the Lord; praise his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.
Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods.
The gods of other nations are mere idols, but the Lord made the heavens!
Honor and majesty surround him; strength and beauty fill his sanctuary.
O nations of the world, recognize the Lord; recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong.
Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his courts.
Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor. Let all the earth tremble before him.
Tell all the nations, “The Lord reigns!” The world stands firm and cannot be shaken. He will judge all peoples fairly.
Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise!
Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy! Let the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he is coming!

He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, and the nations with his truth.”
