The Quitter
July 12
Friday, I announced to the Lord, "I quit, You have picked the wrong woman
for the task at hand. You have taken me deeper than I am capable of
going with You. The battle is too ferocious, I want out."
First off that is where I was going wrong...relying on my capabilities.
God is fulling capable of bringing all things He desires to fruition.
He wasn't depending on me for the outcome...He just wanted my faithfulness
to Him on the ride.
Typing in "quit" in The Message check out what I fed upon this morning.
Our God is so personal, He speaks right to our hearts when we get alone
with Him and still ourselves.
How quick He is to forgive. Just two days ago I bailed on Him and he is
already tenderly building me back up. He is not the least bit miffed...
for He is not human...He is God!
Romans 12:11
Don't burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants
of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don't quit in hard times;
pray all the harder. Help needy Christians; be inventive in hospitality.
2 Timothy 4:1-5
I can't impress this on you too strongly. God is looking over your shoulder.
Christ himself is the Judge, with the final say on everyone, living and dead.
He is about to break into the open with his rule, so proclaim the Message with intensity; keep on your watch. Challenge, warn, and urge your people.
Don't ever quit. Just keep it simple.
You're going to find that there will be times when people will have no
stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food—catchy
opinions that tickle their fancy.
They'll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages.
But you—keep your eye on what you're doing; accept the hard times
along with the good; keep the Message alive;
do a thorough job as God's servant.
Matthew 10:20-22
Don't be naive. Some people will impugn your motives, others will smear
your reputation—just because you believe in me. Don't be upset when they
haul you before the civil authorities. Without knowing it, they've done
you—and me—a favor, given you a platform for preaching the kingdom news!
And don't worry about what you'll say or how you'll say it.
The right words will be there; the Spirit of your Father will supply the words.
When people realize it is the living God you are presenting and not some
idol that makes them feel good, they are going to turn on you, even people
in your own family. There is a great irony here: proclaiming so much love,
experiencing so much hate! But don't quit. Don't cave in. It is all well
worth it in the end. It is not success you are after in such times but survival.
Be survivors! Before you've run out of options, the Son of Man will have arrived.
Let's Pray: Praise Your name among the heavenlies! You
God Almighty never quit...You do not even slumber. Forgive us when we
take tasks into our own hands and grow weary. Thank You for how Your
Word revives! Revive us again and again! In Jesus' Name, Amen
