Thorn in the Flesh

September 17-18

A girlfriend came to the lake for the day yesterday to help me with preparations for our son's wedding. One thing we wanted to do was experiment with some floral arrangements utilizing plants that were easily accessible. I had purchased some succulents which being annuals had been marked down to half price. This plant has now been labeled by me as "the killer plant". Working outside to avoid a mess in the kitchen we were thrilled with the conglomeration of succulents, vines and artichokes!(I will try to post a picture.) We both nicked our hands several times on the protruding thorns and have war wounds this morning as proof of our hard work. Having just heavily watered our creation I left it out on the Trex at the front door. Moving on to the next project I brushed pass this arrangement and two long thorns, from one of the plants, punctured my leg in the calf area and then one went right into a vein below my ankle. Blood shot out like a water hose! Swelling immediately followed and throbbing and pain have continued into this morning. Paul's comment of having a thorn in the flesh has taken on new meaning.

2 Corinthians 12:6-8
Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say. To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.

And last night I kept thinking about the pain in Jesus' head as that crown of thorns was embedded into his head.
John 19:1
So Pilate took Jesus and had him whipped. The soldiers, having braided a crown from thorns, set it on his head, threw a purple robe over him, and approached him with, "Hail, King of the Jews!" Then they greeted him with slaps in the face.

Today's plans have changed. I am off my feet and using this time to work on menu planning, grocery lists, and have some quality Jesus time! I am also praying that God uses these two scripture verses to reveal something to each of you which takes you to a new depth of understanding for His plans and His purposes!
Love, Boo
