The Red Sea Rules
October 1-2
Robert J. Morgan's book, The Red Sea Rules, came to me as a "just because I love you" gift from a dear friend this week. The subtitle explains the contents as...."10 God given strategies for difficult times. The same God who led you in will lead you out."
For the next 10 days...unless the Lord comes back or the Spirit side tracks me, come along with me as we check out these 10 rules. The preface reads: "No sea is deeper than the ocean of His love. There is no army stronger than His hosts, no force greater than His throne of grace, no enemy who can overcome His direct and indirect work in our lives. The reality of the Red Sea, in a word is this: God will always make a way for His tired, yet trusting children, even if He must split the sea to do it."
You can trust God. he will not let you be tested more than you can stand. But when you are tested, He will also make a way out so that you can bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
The stories Morgan shares in the first chapter resonate with a question I have posed to God many times. Just did it the other night on the phone with a friend whose 11 month old grandson has a lesion on his brain.... "Why?"
This author writes..."God allows our faith to be tried, and He permits trouble to crowd into our lives. Sometimes they seem more than we can bear, but Christ can bear them. The first step toward "parted waters" is to frequently remind ourselves that the Lord has either put us in this difficult place or has allowed us to be there for reasons perhaps only He knows."
The Bible is chocked full of these stories. Joseph's mistreatment by his brothers, then the set up by Potiphar's wife, Moses had more than one moment, Hagar being forced to flee to the dessert, how about Jesus himself, and then what the disciples endured.
As we prepare to take this short adventure together, think back on some of your biggest
"Why, Lord, why?" trials and ask God to prepare your heart for this study.
