Forge Ahead
September 8-9
Our QB had what was undoubtably the toughest game of the season. This game played in SC last night was considered one of the top 10 high school games being played in the nation. One commentator said he thought it was in the top three games. Our adopted grandson transferred, from a small Christian school where he had played as a receiver, to this public high school last year as a sophomore and earned the spot of starting QB.
The team they played last night has won 8 state championships the last 11 years. The battle was exhausting (for us listening by radio, ha). These two teams tossed the lead back and forth. Our team had the ball and was down 32-28 with less than a minute and it was 4th and 1. They didn't make it. While praying for our QB yesterday morning the Lord was preparing my heart for what a tough game this would be. The phrase he gave me to share was "forge ahead". For three grueling hours in the SC humidity these young men did just that.
Forge ahead is a great attitude for us in life. Whether in our relationships, our health issues, our financial binds, our faith building, training up our kids...we can press on because we know we are not alone and this is not our home. We are forging ahead towards the end of the game and a victorious heavenly home.
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-15
What a good word to share with QB today. As I was looking through some pictures of him his #2 jersey spoke to me. This young man always puts God and others before himself!
