Blow a Trumpet for the Lord
September 10
The sermon series we are in right now is on "Vision". Carter Crenshaw shared two quotes:
"He alone who owns the youth gains the future."
"How fortunate for government that the people they administer don't think."
I have read these over and over. Both hold deep, deep truths. Do you know who made these insightful statements? Adolf Hitler!
Crenshaw went on to say, "If the wrong trumpet is blowing, it can lead to serious destruction. The world is at war. There is conflict everywhere. The Bible teaches there is a war in our culture for our hearts. It is called secular humanism. Secular meaning not sacred & humanism meaning without God.
Ok, so on that happy note...have a great day. The overwhelming reality of how far from God we have come as a nation leaves many of us throwing up our hands and a prayer. I've said too many times, "We can't go back." Praise the Lord, that is not true. How many times have you personally gone back to God? Too many to count for this gal. It takes caring hearts who believe nothing is too hard for God.
While cleaning off a shelf yesterday I came across John Eldredge's book Epic. "The Story God is Telling and the Role That is Yours to Play. "Dig, dig, dig it," is what Bob the Builder says on one of our grandson's favorite videos. Join me starting tomorrow as we dig into this little book and check out the story of the difference we can make.
Jonathon Falwell sites six points...a vision or mission statement for his church. They are to be:
1. Committed to the Word
2. Practicing a Culture of Prayer
3. Exhibiting a life of worship
4. Connecting with their community.
5. Having hearts for serving.
6. Possessing a passion for sharing the gospel.
Let's commit to blow our trumpets for the Lord this week as a great introduction to our story! Be sure some of America's youth are in hearing distance.
