Where is your DELIGHT? The Way is the Word!

1991 (Purple must have been popular that year too)
January 9
Blessed is the one who does not walk in the step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners talk or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.  That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-whatever they do prospers.
Psalm 1 1-3

If someone approached you today and asked..."What do you delight in?"  How would you respond?
The fabulous British TV series, "Downton Abby" has started back up this week with Season 3!  Just look on Facebook and see how delighted people are that it is finally here!  (Confession...I have really enjoyed this program myself.)  Facebook...now there's another addictive delight.
Maybe you are like me and you delight in your children or grandchildren and could sit and watch them all day.  Possibly you're  in love and you delight in the person who holds your affections and spend time plotting how you can be together.  Are you a fitness or sports fanatic, spending hours at the gym or easily labeled "faithful fan extraodinaire"?  Food is another delight of mine...I enjoy new tastes, fresh herbs, and fabulous sauces.  Are you crafty or have a specialized hobby? Investing time in something that delights us is a great stress reliever.

God knew we'd need relief from this earthly life.  Sun, snow, rain, lakes, mountains, fish, birds, all of creation shouts come away with me and be delighted in who I AM.  Once we sit with Him, we learn there is more depth to the delight. We realized He left a way for Him to speak directly into our hearts, minds and souls, with words that teach, comfort and bring hope, grace and salvation.  The Way is the Word.

When your delight is in the Word of God your life changes.  There is still time for all the other earthy joys, but our souls find solace in what they were searching for when we read the Bible.
