Brave
Cruising out into our cove, we came across this dock with a huge ladder
and the children were climbing onto the roof and jumping off.
(Notice the tiny girl on the right. Probably six or seven years old.)
There are some things in life which require bravery and other things which just aren't smart.
August 11
Our pastor just started a series called "Brave." The key verse this particular Sunday was...
"Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way
into him who is the head, into Christ."
Ephesians 4:15
The Message translation gets to the nitty gritty, referencing verses 15-16.
"No prolonged infancies among us, please. We'll not tolerate babes in the woods, small children who are an easy mark for imposters. God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love-like Christ in everything. We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. His very breath and blood flow through us, nourishing us so that we will grow up healthy in God, robust in love."
It takes courage to talk to others about our love for Jesus. The US Men's diving team of David Boudia and Steele Johnson have shown such bravery on the International platform which the Olympics has afforded them. Check out this article. I did not realize that, at the age of 12, Johnson endured a life threatening accident hitting his head on the concrete platform. That's bravely on his part and his parents to get back out there!
