Freely Given

May 25

This photo should be in a magazine!  Our son said his daughter took her flower girl job very seriously and graciously. Instead of dropping the petals down the aisle, she went up to each row of seating and said, "You want some? Then she put petals beside each row!"  He said it took FOREVER!

Jesus is like that isn't he.  He's looking into our hearts saying, "You want some of my love?  It's freely given!"   Jesus freely gave us Amazing Love through the sacrifice of his life for our sins.

"...he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and  will-to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the  One he loves.  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness o sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace."  Ephesians 1:5-7

Many commentaries see the Song of Solomon as the picture of the love that Christ has for his bride-the church.  We are to be passionate towards Him as the bride in this passage is towards her beloved groom.  Christ is to be our first Love. We let so many things and people become our passion.  May our love for Christ be passionately poured out today as we find time to run away with Him and give back to Him the love and adoration He has so freely given us.

"Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth-for  your love is more delightful than wine.
Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out.
No wonder young women love you!
Take me away with you-let us hurry!...
How right they are to adore you!"
Song of Solomon 1:2-4
