A Prayer for the Month of August

Summer in Utah

August 1st this powerful prayer by Priscilla Shirer popped up on Instagram.  It took awhile, as she's a fast talker, but my sweet husband helped me transcribe this and print it off to pray every morning in August.

"Dear Heavenly Father as I step into this new month  I do so not in fear or hesitation, but in faith.  You stand beside me. You dwell within me. 

August is not just another page on the calendar it's a divine appointment; a new opportunity to walk in purpose, to see promises fulfilled, to take territory the enemy thought he could keep. 

And so I speak with authority.  

This month is blessed.

This month is covered. 

This month is claimed for the Kingdom of God. 

I bind every distraction and cancel every demonic assignment.

No weapon formed against me shall prosper. No lie will take root, no fear will find a home in my heart. Instead I loose peace and purpose and divine direction over everyday. 

Lord in August I ask for clarity and not confusion. I ask for strategy not just strength. Give me discernment that sees beyond what is visible and faith that doesn't flench when the weight gets long.

Let your Word be the loudest voice I follow.

I declare that August will be a month of break through. Walls will fall, chains will break, doors will open and miracles will manifest. Not because of who I am but because of who You are. 

You are the God of suddenly. The God of more than enough.  The God of yes and amen and I will not walk through with this month with my head hung low. I walk tall and I walk covered and I walk completely surrendered.

I declare August to be Holy Ground and every step I take is ordered.

Every moment is anointed and every battle is already won and I will give you the glory for every blessing and for every break through and every closed door that protect me.

In the mighty matchless name of Jesus, I seal this month in prayer."

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7

Toe Sucking

June 13 If I keep my eyes on God, I won't trip over my own feet. Psalm 25:12 …or allow them to be sucked off by carp!  For as long as I've been on this lake (49 years) we've gone to feed the carp at various marinas.   I have a bag of old bread waiting to be tossed to the carp tomorrow by our grandchildren!   There's a new adventure at a couple of the marinas.  Toe sucking!   For 25 cents you can buy a small scoop of peanut butter to go on your toes. Then the carp suck it off!   I just got a pedicure, so I have an excuse not to participate! What we do need to participate in is keeping our feet on the paths the Lord sets before us. Give careful though to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Proverbs 4:26

Mercy and Grace

  These three grands got wheels  for Christmas! Praying for mercy and grace! 2025 finds me launching off into a new Bible reading plan. Twenty five years ago when our daughter was living in Nashville, she had an amazing group of musician friends who would travel here for long weekends at the lake.  One of those young women is Tara Leigh Cobble, who now hosts a podcast called "The BibleRecap."   https://www.thebiblerecap.com/about On Day 5, while in Job, Tara Leigh addresses the difference in mercy and grace   this way. " Mercy  is when you don't get what you deserve.
