He's Already There- Holy Spirit

Loved seeing this Tiger Swallowtail butterfly in one of our crepe myrtle trees.

In 1759 Joseph Hart penned these lyrics to the hymn "Come Holy Spirit Come".

"Come, Holy Spirit, come; Let Thy bright beams arise; Dispel the darkness from our minds, and open all our eyes.  Cheer our desponding hearts, Thou heavenly Paraclete; Give us to lie with humble hope at our Redeemer's feet."

In O.S. Hawkins book, The Passion Code, he writes "Recognizing the Holy Spirit is a person who lives in us and desires to get more of us, we should daily surrender to His leading in our lives....Our search will not be in trying to get more of Him; rather we we will be consumed with how we might give Him more of us."

I've read this over again and again the past couple months and don't want to get stuck trying to discern how the Holy Spirit works. He is God and I am not able to understand the ways of God.

When I first started to learn about the Holy Spirit I grasped that He was living in me, but also that I had the freedom to allow Him to operate or not. I've likened it to a light switch. The power is there, but it is my choice whether to turn it on or not.

I'll keep nibbling on "Our search will not be in trying to get more of Him; rather we we will be consumed with how we might give Him more of us" and conform my daily living to surrendering more of me to Him each day.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.  Romans 15:13

Toe Sucking

June 13 If I keep my eyes on God, I won't trip over my own feet. Psalm 25:12 …or allow them to be sucked off by carp!  For as long as I've been on this lake (49 years) we've gone to feed the carp at various marinas.   I have a bag of old bread waiting to be tossed to the carp tomorrow by our grandchildren!   There's a new adventure at a couple of the marinas.  Toe sucking!   For 25 cents you can buy a small scoop of peanut butter to go on your toes. Then the carp suck it off!   I just got a pedicure, so I have an excuse not to participate! What we do need to participate in is keeping our feet on the paths the Lord sets before us. Give careful though to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Proverbs 4:26

Mercy and Grace

  These three grands got wheels  for Christmas! Praying for mercy and grace! 2025 finds me launching off into a new Bible reading plan. Twenty five years ago when our daughter was living in Nashville, she had an amazing group of musician friends who would travel here for long weekends at the lake.  One of those young women is Tara Leigh Cobble, who now hosts a podcast called "The BibleRecap."   https://www.thebiblerecap.com/about On Day 5, while in Job, Tara Leigh addresses the difference in mercy and grace   this way.
