To Be..A Woman who Leans on the Lord

Love seeing this herd of cousins together.
Love the youngest leaning on the oldest.

Seven days with fever makes one weak!
Well, I've been the sickest I may have ever been the past week. Truly bedridden. An unknown virus has filled my body with eight days of fever, fatigue, aches, stomach issues and now it has settled in my chest. My husband has had the shorter version with fever lasting three days.

The song "Lean on Me" from 1972 by Bill Withers played in my mind, as so many friends have reached out with their soups and grocery runs! We probably wouldn't have eaten had it not been for this provision.

"Sometimes in our lives we all have pain. We all have sorrow, but if we are wise we know that there's always tomorrow.  Lean on me, when you're not strong and I'll be your friend, I"ll help you carry on. For it won't be long 'til I'm gonna need somebody to lean on."

Lean- "Cause something to rest against. Be in."

The only activity I've partaken in is leaning on the Lord and praying for others.
One day I cried out for healing and God said, "And if I heal you, then what?"  Conviction set in. I wanted my strength back foremost for household chores.  The calendar had been filled this week with "of the world" activities. Four luncheons, book club, a shopping trip and yes Bible study.  There really wasn't much scheduled seeking the Lord time, but I found myself "in" Him, "resting against" Him.
I said to myself, "I've lost a whole week of life."  Whose life is this anyway?

Two book titles caught my attention a week ago, but I didn't order them.  After hearing from the Lord I've decided they may be worth the read.

The Freedom of Self Forgetfulness:The Path to True Christian Joy, by Timothy Keller
Free of Me:Why Life is Better When It's Not about You, by Sharon Hodde Miller.

Dying to self and leaning on the Lord doesn't come naturally, but God has ways to get out attention and bring us to the point of surrendering.

"From my distress I called upon the Lord; The Lord answered me and set me in a large place. The Lord is for me; I will not fear;"  Psalm 118:5-6
